Website down for two days
Apologies to anyone who has tried to view this site since Monday and found it not available.
Websites jumping again in Firefox 3
In Firefox, when viewing fixed width sites that are centred in the browser window using CSS, switching between pages that are longer and shorter than the browser's viewport causes them to jump sideways by about 15px.
This happens because Firefox, unlike IE, only displays a vertical scrollbar if the page's length is longer than the viewport.
To get around this, I've always added a line of CSS to the top of my stylesheets to force a vertical scrollbar to appear in Firefox:
html{min-height:100.1%;}
Today, with the release of Firefox 3, I've discovered that this fix no longer works!
Lost Remote Desktop Connection
Yesterday, for some reason, I lost access to my Windows 2003 server via Remote Desktop Connection. Although it was still running and I could access FTP, HTTP. Mail and the Helm Control Panel, every time I tried to get a Remote Desktop Connection, the following error appeared:
"Remote Desktop Disconnected
The client could not connect to the remote computerRemote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing your connection."
Free dedicated server for a year!
I must admit I was more than a little suspicious of this offer when I first heard about it but it seems I was wrong. Within a couple of hours of signing up, my Windows 2003/Plesk server was up and running with the domain name www.cf24.co.uk and it works!
